====== YE Data YD-380 ======
The YD-380 is a 5.25" double sided high density floppy drive made by YE Data.
It uses a metal belt to facilitate head movement and locks the disk with a lever. Head loading is done with a solenoid.

It uses the [[#pn128xxx-31|PN128XXX-31]] control board.

The YD-380 model has a number of types. They can be identified via the label that is located on the back of the drive (connector side).

===== Modifications =====
==== 84 track seeking ====
Unmodified drives will not be able to seek 84 tracks. A major modification is required to enable this.

The modification can be performed by following these steps:
  - Unscrew the springs that hold the head assembly guild rod on the stepper motor side.
  - Pull out the guide rod about half way.
  - Use a rotary tool to grind down the head assembly end stop as pictured.
  - Clean the drive of any metal dust.
  - Push the guide rod back into its resting position.
  - Screw down the springs that hold the guild rod in place.
